On a recent blog post made by the founder of the IOTA foundation, David Sonstebo addressed the entire IOTA Foundation community. The founder told the entire community that he has no hard feelings or concerns over the IOTA foundation’s decision. Sonstebo also confirmed that no harm, downfall, or void would come to the IOTA foundation with him leaving the platform.
He stated that the IOTA foundation has always lived up to its reputation and will continue to do so in the coming years. Sonstebo informed the entire community that the foundation has been making more progress and developments than ever.
The foundation has been building up ties and connections to several companies within and outside its circle. It is constantly collaborating with community developers, investors, separate DLT-project leads, and others to enhance its capabilities.
As per reports and an announcement made on December 11, 2020, the IOTA foundation had revealed that David Sonstebo had been removed from the company. The foundation confirmed that the decision was made following the unanimous voting cast by the foundation’s board of directors. David Sonstebo is known for being the founder of the IOTA foundation and was managing the foundation since 2017 as the foundation’s co-chair.
In his blogpost, David Sonstebo cleared out any confusions or ambiguities around his removal from the foundation. He stated that as soon as the announcement was made, many commentators started asking questions. There were several rumors pertaining to his removal claiming he was fired because he had lost his mind. Sonstebo denied all these rumors and stated that these rumors were the very example of being unprofessional, clumsy, and panicky.
However, while clearing out the ambiguities and confusions, David Sonstebo made a few statements that have again made the community even more confused. Initially, the founder cleared out any confusion about what the community had thought to be the reason for him being removed.
He stated that he and the foundation parting ways was not the result of the difference in ideology. It was not a contradiction of interests between the foundation and himself that led to his departure. The founder sounded extremely unhappy about the rumors and stated that he found them to be dubiously motivated and blatantly false.
Sonstebo shared his concern stating that all of the rumors currently rotating in the industry seem to be a defaming act towards his professional career.
However, the words used in his later statements suggested that both parties going separate ways was indeed the contradictions in the interests of Sonstebo and the IOTA foundation.
Sonstebo mentioned a few cases where one was about an argument between him and other directors about appointing a new COE. Another case was the disagreement between the IOTA foundation and him over the ownership of the new projects.
He stated that these were some of the cases where he and the foundation board did not see eye to eye and decided to take a vote that resulted in him being removed from the foundation.
