As per the latest reports, Iran officials have finally talked about the attack on Syria and also talked about the attacks on Iraq. Both matters were discussed by the Iran government officials during a press release on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
According to the press release, the Iranian officials condemned the recent airstrikes that were carried out by the United States in Syria. Iran has claimed that the militias it attacked in Syria were backed by the Iranian Government.
The officials also denied any involvement in attacking the United States targets in Iraq through rocket attacks. The Iranian Government has strongly condemned the attacks that the United States carried out on Syria as a retaliation for the Iraq attacks on the US military.
As per reports, the Airstrikes carried out in Syria by the United States occurred on Friday, February 26, 2021.
Washington from the United States has also confirmed the reports of the United States attacking militias in Syria. The officials confirmed that the militia it attacked was the Kataib Hezbollah paramilitary group that was backed by Iran.
The Washington officials confirmed that when the airstrikes were carried out, the militias were present alongside the border of Iraq. Therefore, the United States Army did respond to the rocket attacks that were carried out by the Iran-backed militias.
Similar to the United States, even the Iraqi officials alongside the Western officials are putting the blame on the Iranian militias. They have also stated that the attack on the United States military in Iraq was indeed carried out by the Iranian militia.
However, the Iranian Government (Tehran) is completely denying these allegations and stated that it was not involved in the attacks at all.
The airstrikes carried out by the United States were strongly condemned by the Foreign Minister of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif. He stated that the United States attacks on the Iranian soil were a clear act of violence. What the United States has done is not just illegal but it is also against the sovereignty of Iran as well as Syria.
Zarif’s statement has been released by the Iraqi media outlet. Zarif had condemned the US attacks during his meeting with the Iraqi Foreign Minister on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
Zarif stated that some of the attacks carried out in Iraq seemed to be planted by internal/external forces. This is being done in order to put the blame over Iran for such attacks and wage an unlawful/illegal war against Iran.
He also added that for decades, Iran and Iraq have been on extremely friendly terms and have been very close allies. However, the recent attacks in Iraq seem to be a plan in order to disrupt the relationships that both countries have with each other.
